Hey Mergers!

Pastor Gracie blessed us with an impassioned, poignant message on Sunday.  Here are the notes in case you missed it.

Sharing Your Faith

If God made you a promise it's not just for you. He gives to us that we might share with one another.  Most of us don't know anything about the gospel.  The scripture says that we are forever learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth.

Maybe we can't teach share the gospel because we don't know Jesus so all we can depend on is what someone else says to you and not what God is speaking. If we cannot give the gospel that God is speaking, then we are in error.

God gave us what he gave us so that we could share it.  God is the greatest example of sharing. He gave his own son that we may have salvation.

Definition of faith: firm believe in something of which there is no proof.

We need to have faith in God, but it's also important for God to have faith in us in order to trust us and not destroy us.  God is banking on us for some things that we haven't manifested yet. God believes so much in us that he allowed us to partake in salvation through Jesus as his children (not step children)

Reason we can wrap our minds around this culture of faith because we don't know the savior.
We have come into the belief that we are divine and don't need help from God.  When we step out alone without God its like trying to put a round org into a square hole. It'll never work.
God is saying I have already given you breakthrough, but we have continued to vascilate negating his work. He wants to give us a breakout!
God is saying "stop hearing me and not listening."
Paul said the revelation that I gave I didn't get from a man (men are imperfect vessels that can be tainted), but from the lord.

God is saying "hear the word of the Lord."

We don't have testimonies anymore because most people don't know how good God has been; because we keep trying to do it alone and subsequently keep going through the same things over and over again.

God is doing a new thing, but if you don't know him it will cause you to fear the new thing and you'll miss the move of God.

What’s up Mergers! Here are the notes from Bishop’s message on Sunday. They have really been a blessing.

I Chronicles 29:1-9

David sets the order for the house of God (2012: the year of order). David says “I have set my affections on the house of God.”  We have misconceptions about love.  Love demands that we make sacrifices.  David said “I have set…” meaning God did not influence him to do it.  He did it on his own.  Love is not emotion but devotion.  It’s always a choice.  It’s commitment.  Love is loyalty and accountability.  Love is not a feeling.  We must distinguish between love and lust.  Love gives, while lust takes.  Lust can never be satisfied.  Lust is a strong physical desire.  Love is embodied in the mercy and grace of God toward humanity.

Give me someone who is with me not for what I can do for them, but for what they can do for me.  Real love meets the real need.  Real love makes you vulnerable.  David said “I set my affections.”  Affections for anything will eventually surface.  You’ll know for sure fi someone loves you when the right situation occurs.  God wants us to be completely open to him.  God is looking for the level of devotion that we give to our lovers.  Have you inconvenienced yourself for God? Have you suffered ridicule for God?

No one had to ask anything of David, he just gave.  Love is always asking “What have you done for me lately? Ooh ooh ooooh yeah!” *Janet Jackson voice* David says because of his love, he’s holding back nothing.  Out of his sacrifice he gave openly.

We are not of this world.  Our resources are not of this world.  We must become a faith culture.  We’ve been where we are not because God is not able but because “without faith it is impossible to please God.” The just shall live by faith.

Hey Mergers!

Hopefully you've been to the Mount these past few weeks.  The teaching had been phenominal!  However, if you weren't able to make it out, here are notes from Bishop's last two messages.  Enjoy

Message by Bishop Murphy

We must create a culture of faith.

Many times the enemy gets the victory over us because God has ordained that we live in the spiritual dimension, yet we deal in the natural dimension and attempt to receive spiritual things that only faith can lay hold to.

We're living in a society that doesn't believe in giving to churches. Even the believers think that if they can just give to a good cause, they don't have to worry about the preacher taking your money.  When the reality is, no matter where you put your money, you have to worry about someone taking your money

In many cases, your house is a reflection of who you are.  When people come to your house they can get an insight to your standard of living.  The same should be said of the church. When you look at the church, do you see a picture of who God is or is it a picture of how you value God? David said that this palace is not for man, but for God.  Because David understood that the house of God was not about man, he gave his best to make sure that it looked like a place where God could dwell

Have you lived your life in such a way that you can say you have given God your best in a given situation? In everything we do, God wants your best. David prepared to give the lord an offering. He didn't wait until he got to church.  He valued God in such a way that he came to a precise conclusion on how much he needed to give in order for the house of God to look like the house of god. He set aside the best that he had and gave it to God.

God knows what your best is. He knows what's in your safe, he knows what's in your bank account.  So you aren’t fooling him when you anonymous envelope in the offering basket.  David gave openly because he knew he had given his best. Your best may not be someone else's best but if you are giving the best that you have, give it proudly.

One of the strategies of the enemy is to keep you from talking about money so he can keep you from getting the best blessings that God has from you. The greatest blessings God has for you are attached to your money because your money indicates where your true love is.

When we give seeing men and not God. The focus for not giving is men: preachers, deacons, people, etc.  When we focus on men we miss it because this is not for men, but all about God.  If we weren't so out of the word, we wouldn't be tripped up by the things of the world.  You're tripping over so many obstacles because you don't have enough word to walk straight in your situations

Whatever you do, you cannot focus it on Bishop Murphy.  Set your focus on God.  I do not believe because of a preacher.  I believe because of the word.  He's blessed because he preaches the word.  I'm blessed because I read the word.

Too many have a heart for the preachers.  Their faith, obedience and trust are in the man.  But if you have a heart for God, then He will give you your reward.

If every believe came to church seeking God and not for a man then what you’d get when you came would be totally different. We're hendered in the faith because we're too focused on man.

Men are going to focus and concentrate on what the preacher said, but when your focus is on God, the man will be saying one thing and you'll hear something totally different because you are in the spirit.

If you look at Bishop or other preachers, you're already limited. They become the god you can see, touch and talk to which limits your experience of God.

It’s about you reaching that place of deep riches of your liberality.

If we're going to be a culture of faith then we must make sure that where we worship is a place where God can dwell.

Message by Bishop Murphy

God, through Jesus Christ, has already gotten rid of the enemy, but most never replace that void with anything. And because of this lack of replacing, the enemy comes back stronger than before and takes back the authority that he lost over you.

God saves us from sin and takes us away from the power of the enemy but since we never replace him with the word with new ways, the enemy continues to beat down on us.  The enemy's strategy is to keep you from replacing that void with anything else so he can continue to rule and reign in your life.  Many are operating in old ways simply because you don't know any better.

The earth uniquely belongs to you but the devil would have you believe that he and God are making all the choices. But NOT SO! It’s all about what you're gonna do in the earth realm.  The devil is warring against you because he doesn't want you to move back into your place of authority.

God's expecting you to stand against the enemy, so why are you waiting for Him to stand for you? He's given you your superman outfit, all you have to do is put it on and you will be prepared for anything the devil throws at you.  The devil knows that you have power and he wants to keep you ignorant of it.  He doesn't want you walking in this kind of revelation; he doesn't want you to walk on that level of faith.  The enemy wants you to think that you have to depend on outside sources when in reality, YOU are the source.  We've been taught that God is in control of everything, but if he's in control of everything, how did you make the decision you just made?  The revelation is that God has placed you in control.

Fear is of the enemy.  So anytime you find yourself in a situation where fear comes upon you, you know it is of the enemy.  When fear comes upon you, you lose perception of who you are and of your abilities.  As long as the devil can keep you in fear he can keep you from making powerful decisions that will shape your environment and cause you ultimate victory.  God has not given you fear, but power, love and a sound mind.  You must know who you are and in the midst of whatever you're going through, you can't get weak in it.  You've got to have a sound mind in every situation that confronts you.  Make up your mind that "I am not losing my authority in this situation". You've gotta quit giving up our authority we get in this waiting period where we wait on God.

We’re in unique positions.  God made us in his image and put us in a position to run everything on the earth.  We must be proactive in taking charge of our situations.  You have the responsibility to fight the enemy back.  The devil will never stop fighting you.  He may retreat for a season, but he's just regrouping and waiting for better conditions to attack again.

Another strategy is to use your lazyness/idleness.  You know what to do, but you're waiting for someone else to move on your behalf.  The church needs to be broken from slothfulness.  Many people are only where they are because of their indecision and lack of action.  Its the spirit of slothfulness that causes us not to inherit the promises of the kingdom.  The church has become open to the philosophies of the world and ignorant to the word of God.  We aren't arrogant enough.  Most people know who the pimps, drug dealers, etc are but no one knows who the believers are.  Why?  Because most believers are out of character.  They've become so ingrossed in the philosophies of the world and don't believe themselves that God can do it.

If everyone around you understands you, then that says something about your level of faith.  If you can just blend in with everyone else and not having people saying you're strange, spooky then maybe there is something wrong with your belief system.

God has given us the keys to the kingdom and because of our level of authority in the earth, we live beneath our privilege.  We should have no lack, but we lack because we are waiting on God to give us access to something he has already given us the keys for we never obtain all that we were meant to.  There's stuff that you should be binding on earth so it has no dominion in the heavens.  Whatever you say in the earth, God is going to back it up in the heavens.  What are you saying?!?

You must start saying some stupid things this week.  You have to start speaking to things you've never spoken to before. Grab your bills and start saying "paid," "zero balance."  The church has to become more radical.  The world has no problem cursing in front of you, smoking weed in front of you, so why can't you say praise the lord or thank you Jesus in front of them?
