THE MERGE NEWSLETTER - Jan. 25, 2011

What’s up Mergers?

First, we would like to thank all of you who were with us on our first Merge Sunday of the year.  You helped to make it a very special experience.  There were several young men that signed up to join our Merge deacons!  We are very excited to see that area of the ministry take off.  We also had a great time hanging out with you after service.  It was fun just to hang out, break bread together, dance, and just fellowship with one another.

Keep in mind this Friday we will be interceding on behalf of our generation at our Midnight oil.  Come meet us as we go before the Lord together.  We will be at New Mt. Moriah from 11:30pm – 12:45am.  Don’t miss out!

Due to the inclement weather prognostication we will be going to Joe Dumars Field House in Shelby Township on Saturday instead of the Fire & Ice Fest (an outdoor event).  Check out the link for more information:http://www.joedumarsfieldhouse.com/entertainment/index.php.  We will be hanging out in the Bayou Adventure center from 6-9 after which we will go out to eat (we will definitely have worked up an appetite by then).  We’re meeting at New Mt. Moriah at5:30 so come out with us for what is sure to be a great time.

Be sure to check out our blog: http://wearemerge.blogspot.com. That’s right people, we now have a blog!  You can stay abreast on the latest news; get info about upcoming events, and more.  It is yet another way that the ministry is branching out and becoming more modern.  On that note, you can text wearemerge (no spaces) to 41411 so we can keep you up to date with Merge information sent directly to your mobile phone.

The Merge is definitely on the move people.  Get on board because it is gonna be an exciting ride in 2011!

Take care,
The Merge

Notes from Sunday –1/16/11

Speaker: Bishop Murphy
Summary by Alysha Robinson

What are you up against? What are you prepared to fight for in this season? Satan is attacking our happiness, health, mental stability, peace, joy. What are you willing to do? Now, is the time Morians to unite as we embark on this spiritual warfare. We are all under attack, thus each person must bare arms. Now is the moment, the pivotal moment where not knowing your place, not knowing what God has appointed you to do can cause you to lose so much, potentially your life. "I'm not willing to lose ground; this is my year to do better. Everyone has to bare arms. The grace of God is what gives us the ability to win." exclaimed Bishop. Step up and fight, know your place and take it accordingly. We must walk in our lane...whether it is healing, miraculous works, discernment or interpretation of tongues. We must know it, walk in it and help those around us with these spiritual gifts that God has purposely blessed each of us with. No one is without one, regardless of your past sins, regardless of your lifestyle. "'But I got drunk last night,' you have a gift. [But I fornicated last week] you still have a gift," Bishop reassures. The enemy is very clever, never lose site of this fact. He will have you believe you are no good, not valuable to the kingdom of God. But know the purpose over your life is so much more than your past sins. God still loves you and wants to use you to advance His kingdom. Bishop said, "There is a grace on me that I need to release to you so you can go to the next dimension. The battle for connection is the most strategic area. Satan understands the grace so he wants to separate key connections. He knows you can help others and they can help you." So we must be on alert. Be cautious of the pitfalls the enemy has laid out before us. He will lie to us and use interpersonal connections to manipulate a situation and prevent us from gaining what God has purposed for us. Again, I ask, will you stand up? Will you take your place?

Memo from the board: Word received by Takaila Butler

Go forth my children and know that I have made way for you to prosper. Know that I have defeated the enemy concerning you and I declare that you are victorious. Know that I have ordained you to prosper. Know that I have called you to win in every battle. Know that I have placed you in high places so that my people can know my name and know who I am. Know that time is at hand that I have given you time to complete the work that have been started in you. Complete the tasks that are before you each one working their own work to edify me the true and living God. Go forth and proclaim my name to the nations. Go forth and bring down the strongholds of the enemy. Go forth and be the examples to the world. Lean not to thine own understanding but lean on me. Know that I am all you need and more. Know that the corruption of this world is death and I am the true and living life. Come to me for life and you will surely not die. Lean on me for strength and power to endure. Know my ways and stay before me. I will teach you what you need to know. Know that I love you and have ordained and chosen you. Go forth and see the salvation of the Lord. Be holy for I am holy. Be righteous for I am righteous. Love one another and let not confusion be amongst you. Know that I called you all to do a mighty work. You have to work together to accomplish the work that is at hand. Be courageous, be strong at heart and be of right standing with me your God. Lean on me, seek me and you surely will find me. Be not afraid of what’s to come but know that I have gone before you to set the path/course. Be strong, be of good cheer. Know that I am the Lord that healeth thee. Be patient. Be strong mighty warriors. Stand strong and good courage. Love God.

God bless,

THE MERGE NEWSLETTER - Jan. 21, 2011

Salutations Mergers!

Hopefully the week is going well for you.  If not, here’s something to cheer you up…Merge Sunday is this weekend!  That’s right; we’re almost upon the first Merge Sunday of the year.  We hope you’re ready.  Come prepared to have a great time in the Lord (like we do every Sunday).  Don’t forget to check us out in the fellowship hall after service for a little food, a little dancing and just to hang out and get to know your fellow Mergers.  I mean, who throws a party on a Sunday after church?!?  That’s right, we do!  Don’t miss out people.  We’re starting the year off right.

Also, remember that we will be having Midnight Oil the following Friday (1/28/11) at New Mt. Moriah starting at 11:30.  Come pray with us as we seek the face of God and intercede for our generation.  The following night we will be heading to downtown Rochester for the Fire & Ice Fest.  This is a free event!  It’s going to be a blast so make sure you don’t miss out.  Be sure to dress warm because most of the activities are outdoors.  We will be meeting at the church at 5:30 and departing at 5:45.  Be sure to reply to this e-mail if you are going to attend.

This next segment is something we call “Memos from the board.”  For those who are unfamiliar The Board is what we call the Merge leaders at the headquarters.  They go before the Lord concerning our generation and our ministry.   Periodically, we will be giving you a word received by one of our board members in this segment.  We hope it will be a blessing to your life.

THE MERGE

What’s up Mergers!

Hopefully you’re being safe out there.  This snow has been crazy this week.  Just remember to take it slow and get to your destinations safely.  You may be the greatest driver to ever sit behind the wheel of the car, but you can’t control the people around you so keep your wits about you on the road.

Well, we’re two weeks into 2011 and the Merge is wasting no time.  We’re on the move!  As we speak, your Merge leaders (aptly dubbed “The Board”) are hard at work planning events and conferences for us.  They’re putting together strategies to grow our ministry and diversify it so that it touches our entire generation regardless of what stage you are in life; because we all know that between the ages of 18-35 there are many varying needs and interests.  Our goal is cater to as many of them as possible so that all in our generation can be blessed by our ministry.  So stay tuned!  And as always, we want to hear from you.  No one knows your needs better than you so the only way we can make sure the ministry is effectively touching everyone is if you tell us.  We are always looking for comments, suggestions, or any other input you may have that will help to improve the ministry

We’re swiftly approaching Merge Sunday!!!  We are all excited for the first Merge Sunday of the year.  It is sure to be a blessed experience.  We will definitely be in the building!  Of course our worshipers will be in place, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.  We have a strong Merge presence throughout the congregation and beyond the confines of New MT. Moriah, many of whom will be with us as well.  Following the 10:00 service we will be hanging out together in the fellowship hall.  Our amazing kitchen staff will have food for us! There will also be music.  Rumor has it that our fellow Mergers, Tony and Aaron Jackson have a couple hustles to teach us.  So don’t miss out.  We’re starting the year off with a bang!

The Friday following Merge Sunday, Jan. 28th, will be our Midnight Oil.  For those who don’t know, Midnight Oil is a time when we come together as a ministry to pray and seek the face of God concerning our generation.  It is a very powerful time.  We take time for individual prayer and corporate prayer so that no stone is left unturned and we can cast all our personal and corporate cares on the Lord.  So please join us at New Mt. Moriah at 11:30pm as we continue to set the tone for 2011.

The very next day, Jan. 29th, we’ll be heading to downtown Rochester for the Fire & Ice festival.  There will be fireworks, carriage rides, ice sculptures, ice skating, a soup cook off, the list goes on and on!  A small caveat, for the ice skating and figure skating demo you have to bring your own skates.  Or perhaps you could strap a couple butter knives to the bottom of your shoes and get it in (food for thought).  The best part about it is this event is free!  That’s right, FREE (let me say that in Spanish, Gratis!).  If you need a ride we’ll be meeting at the church at 5:30 and getting there around 6.  If not, you can just meet us there.  Can’t wait!  Please reply to this email and let us know if you are going to attend so we can plan accordingly.

Again, continue to be safe out there this week.  Remember to set your expectations high for 2011.  We are definitely doing big things this year.  The building blocks are already being set in place and we can't wait to see the promises of God come to pass for us as the year unfolds.

God bless,
The Merge

THE MERGE

Hey merge family...hope everyone is doing well going into the New Year. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that came out to support and bring in the New Year with us. Also, those individuals that gave of their time to help bring everything together, you guys are awesome...thank you. Watch night service was beyond anything I expected. The word of The Lord was given by Pastor Gracie McCoy, Pastor Murphy and Bishop Murphy. Praises were lifted up and blessings were overflowing in the crowded sanctuary. And if that wasn’t enough, a special surprise was revealed promptly at the stroke of midnight. Mike and Jessica pledged a union of love and devotion in an impromptu ceremony. It was absolutely beautiful, congratulations!

This past Sunday, Bishop delivered a powerful message…
"I don't know what your circumstance is, I don't know what your situation is but you have to walk in grace to make it through." Immediately, several members stand to their feet in concurrence. So many times we go through trials and face harsh tribulations and falter because we lack the strength to walk in grace by faith. In every word Bishop uttered to the congregation, I began to understand why so many times things failed in my life and in those around me. "Many of you are on the verge of failure. And you’re at that verge of failure because you lack strength."

Bishop reiterates, “You can’t come to church expecting a double blessing. You can’t expect Bishop to preach you happy. You have to walk through it by yourself, and know the grace God has placed over your life will get you through.” Amen and amen…
Hearts are mended; spirits are lifted and restored when you receive a message from The Lord that specifically touches on areas in your life. I’m always astonished how God knows us so well. He knows our traits, characteristics, habits and always finds a way to show us what we need to do. Bishop speaks to those with a doubtful spirit, “Some may say, ‘what if I’m already depressed, already crying midnight tears. How do I get strength?’”  BE STRONG! You’re falling short because you fail to be who you are. There is a grace, power and anointing when you start walking in who God created you to be. And how do you start walking in your purpose? Just decide to do it… don’t contemplate or plan on it, SIMPLY DO IT!

Scripture reference:
II Tim. 2: 1~3 (NIV)
1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 3 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
